Our Services
-
An Occupational Therapy Assessment looks holistically at the child’s participation and functional skills within their everyday tasks and environments. This assessment includes all skill areas such as motor, cognitive and social emotional domains and their impact on participation.
An initial assessment allows us to gain a detailed understanding of your child’s strengths and to identify areas where they may benefit from further support. At Lithgow Kids Occupational Therapy we like to keep our assessments flexible and fun, adapting to the child’s skills and interests. This supports the child’s participation and allows us to gain a thorough assessment of their skills.
Parent and caregiver insights are an invaluable part of this process and in assisting our understanding of your child and family. We will collect information from you and discuss any concerns that you might have as part of the assessment and any ongoing services. One on one meetings between you and your OT may also be recommended to support collaboration and training.
Assessment reports are available as needed. Lithgow Kids Occupational Therapy is also able to complete Functional Capacity Assessments.
-
After an initial assessment of your child’s skills and discussion to identify your concerns, we will work with you to set and regularly review goals, priorities and plans for how Occupational Therapy services will be delivered.
This could include a combination of individual face to face sessions with your child, family collaboration and training sessions, support to implement strategies at home, and collaboration with any other services or supports working with your child.
We value providing services that are individualised, functional and fun! Supports and sessions are carefully planned and selected, considering each child’s strengths, skills and interests to support their engagement while developing functional skills. We will work with you to find strategies and supports that are evidence based and that are the best fit for your child and family.
