What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is an allied health profession that is dedicated to supporting people across all walks of life to be able to participate in the meaningful everyday tasks or “occupations” that they want or need to do.
Occupational Therapists work holistically, considering a persons skills and strengths, the environments where they live, work and play and the tasks or activities that bring meaning and purpose to everyday life.
For kids this commonly includes:
Play skills
Self-care skills including: dressing, toileting, bathing, sleeping, feeding
Participating in everyday family routines
Participating at preschool, day care or school, including in the classroom and the playground with their peers
Accessing the community and participating in spaces such as the park, shopping centre, library and play spaces.
Hi, my name is Hannah, your local paediatric Occupational Therapist.
I’ve started Lithgow Kids Occupational Therapy as I am passionate about bringing quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services to Lithgow and the surrounding areas.
I have been working as a paediatric Occupational Therapist since 2019. I love getting to know my clients and their families and supporting them in identifying and using their unique strengths to promote participation in everyday life.
I am endlessly curious about how the brain works and how we as humans operate. I have a passion for finding practical ways that this can be applied to support developing skills, regulating emotions, interacting with others and supporting meaningful participation.
Please reach out if you have any questions about OT or if you think that it might benefit your child and family.
I’m excited to meet you!
